Meet the trainer
Jukka-Matti Turtiainen
is a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt trained and certified by
Dr. Gregory H. Watson, EUR. Ing
Jukka-Matti has BS and MS degrees from Lappeenranta University of Technology in Industrial Engineering and Management. He interned with both Business Excellence Solutions, Ltd. and Continental in the Corporate Quality function. Before these internships he worked as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt for a laundry company and as an Improvement Specialist for a hospital.
He conducted his MS thesis research at ABB. His thesis developed an advanced model for applying data analytics to explore process performance data and create focused improvement. A practical part of his thesis work was development and delivery of a customized Lean Six Sigma Green Belt course for ABB.
During his studies he was one of the co-creators and designers of ESTIEM Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training which has been deployed across the ESTIEM network of over 70 universities in Europe.
Mr. Turtiainen has conducted or supervised close to 100 projects at the Yellow Belt, Green Belt, or Black Belt levels. His personal qualification projects were conducted in the area of healthcare and his internship projects concentrated on improvement activities in automotive component manufacturing and large motor production.
He was working with the International Trade Centre training Quality Champions in developing countries for three years.
After returning to Finland, he was working for two years in staffing industry at Eezy in the corporate strategy/development function as a Development Manager.
Building a free Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Course
Jukka-Matti discovered Lean Six Sigma for the first time in ESTIEM Summer Academy in 2014, when Dr. Gregory H. Watson lectured on: ”Intellectual Roots of Industrial Engineering.”
The following year Jukka-Matti attended again this event again and decided to deepen his learning about Lean Six Sigma and Quality. That decision has taken him to a unique journey to learn and teach Lean Six Sigma as well as Quality to over ten different countries in three different continents.
Teaching Lean Six Sigma in Africa
ESTIEM Lean Six Sigma Green Belt course has been modified and taught to Quality Champions in developing countries and Jukka-Matti has been the lead in this customization and extension of the ESTIEM standard program.
